#AISLEBRIDE THE PERRELL'S BIG DAY!
Beautiful Alice chose the ‘Peony’ gown by Made with Love Bridal for her big day at Dewsall Court. Alice knew as soon as she put this on, the statement sleeves were for her! The vision for the day came together perfectly.
Why did you choose to visit The Aisle?
When I began looking for wedding dress shops, I already knew what my overall aesthetic would be for the day but I had no idea what I would end up with dress-wise.
I didn't want any part of the day to feel too generic or to look like something from a 90's wedding brochure, and so as soon as I saw the collections on offer at The Aisle, I knew this was the place for me! I loved the modern, fresh and fashionable feel of all the collections and couldn't wait to try everything on!
After a quick browse on Instagram (...the millennials answer to TripAdvisor) I was obsessed and booked an appointment straight away.
Katie and Maya made me and my mum feel so welcome and completely fabulous. They both have this amazing ability to immediately make you feel at ease, and boy do they know their craft! I came away feeling like I'd spent the day playing dress up with my friends!
Is the style of dress you chose what you thought you would originally go for?
Yes and no. I had heard so many people say to me 'what you think you want, will be totally different to what you go for'... and so I knew to go with an open mind.
However, I knew given my shape, that I'd likely end up with a fish-tail style and that my dress would end up having some sort of quirk or different feature to it. That's just my style! I needed my dress to reflect my personality and I also wanted something that I hadn't seen done before by other brides.
I tried on 6 dresses (quite quickly), all of different shapes, styles and materials and none of them felt right. Katie then came over with a dress that I'd seen as soon as I walked in the shop, however I quickly dismissed it thinking '...well I love it, but I don't think anyone else will'. It had these amazing tulle wings that sat on the top of the shoulder straps and I fell in love with them immediately.
Where did you get married and why did you pick this venue?
We got married at the gorgeous Dewsall Court in Hereford. We were originally supposed to get married in The Dordogne region in France, but our venue let us down with just a year's notice, having decided they no longer wanted to do weddings. After a lot of tears, we decided that if we couldn't have our French summer wedding, we'd go for a British winter wedding. As it turns out this was far more suited to us and it felt like everything had happened the way it was supposed to! Funny how life does that sometimes.
Ian and I both live and work in London, but are both originally from Yorkshire. With this in mind, we knew that wherever we got married either us, our friends or our family would end up travelling, so it didn't really matter where it was.
We contacted Dewsall and they replied within a couple of hours (which I was extremely impressed with) and that was that! We had the venue exclusively from Friday to Sunday, and we were able to provide our own wines (which was music to my wine-snob-husband's ears!). It was the perfect venue.
One top tip to offer new brides?
Remember this day is about you and your husband. No one else. Don't let anyone else's opinions, ideas or thoughts about your day blur your vision. Trust your suppliers (they are experts for a reason) and make sure everything you do is for the two of you.
When did you know the dress was the one?
As soon as I put the dress on, I just knew. There wasn't a rush of tears in the typical 'Say yes to the dress' fashion, but instead just a really buzzy, excited feeling.
My bridesmaids (who had to join us via Zoom at the time) already knew that I'd found the one before I'd even stepped out of the changing room as they could hear the change in my voice. I was giddy, and I knew it was perfect.
My mum of course cried her eyes out, and so we had a winner!
Are you changing your surname and if so, what will it become?
Yes! I am now Mrs Perrell - pronounced 'Purr' (like a cat) 'Elle' (like the magazine). I'm fully aware I will be correcting people on that for the rest of my life!
What was the highlight of your big day?
Our ceremony was a big highlight for me, which was unexpected (normally at weddings I'm just itching to get the party started). It felt so personal and special and I'll never forget seeing Ian's shoulders bob up and down as he tried to hold in his sobs when he saw me walking down the aisle.
The West End Singing Waiters were also INCREDIBLE. These were a surprise for our guests, organised by our parents, and seeing everyone's faces as they realised what was happening was priceless. People were dancing on their chairs, swinging their napkins and singing at the top of their voices.
It was honestly all just PERFECT! And this is largely down to our wedding planner Holly at Wonderlust Events who made the day seamless! She is a miracle worker and now a friend for life.
