Winter Weddings at The Aisle
It’s already that time of year again! We can almost hear the sleigh bells calling in the distance, although that might just be the Skiption Santa fun run this weekend! Either way, December is well and truly upon us, bringing with it one of the most vibrant and colourful times of the year. It’s also the perfect time (in our humble opinion) to host your wedding, so start thinking of deep glowing rusts and burnt oranges for colour schemes, romantic candle light, country manors and an extra added bit of sparkle… pretty much everywhere!
Summer weddings are great for the weather, if you get it! And some brides, understandably so, get hung up on having the perfect weather for their perfect day. There’s a lot of pressure on summer weddings for them to deliver that sunshine and warmth all day long. The nice thing about a winter wedding is that although the temperatures are drawing you indoors, you’re not thinking as much about the weather or willing it to be something it’s not. You can get all cosy and there’s always an option to go and have snowy pictures outside, whilst the planned indoor shots are still the main event. Think open fires sparking embers, grand staircases and wild woodland backdrops for some into the wilderness wholesomeness. Oof, we need a hot chocolate and a toasted marshmallow just thinking about it - hell, make that an evening activity alongside your celebratory fireworks! You see, winter weddings have a lot more to offer than you first thought, so never discount them.
If you’ve decided this festive time of the year is the right time for your wedding then you are definitely going to need a dress that perfectly fits the bill. Luckily for you, we have lots to recommend. Adding a beautiful long lace veil, a tulle sleeve, an overskirt or a pearl glove can elevate your look to not only make it your own, but also make it perfect for your venue and the cosy season.
So grab a mulled wine and a mince pie, get your snug slippers on and delve into our top five picks of Winter Wonderland gowns at The Aisle.
First up is Jane Hill Boston.
In our opinion, this dress is seriously underrated. This cool cut neck line is giving modern vibes as an alternative to a more classic sweetheart neckline. It drops just enough to make it edgy rather than risque. The fabric is a satin mikado so the dress holds its A-line shape beautifully and cascades down into a long train as you glide down the aisle. A high split that can be adjusted, to wherever you see fit, makes it extra easy to party in and show off a pair of killer heels. Feeling like you need something extra? We have just the thing, add the same satin mikado Jane Hill Windsor sleeves with this dress to give it real Snow Queen vibes. They’re perfect for a fearless bride who wants to stand out and be remembered for the fierce lady she is!
Next in line is our beloved Mariana Hardwick, Alessia.
If you’re looking for a dress that’s as memorable as it is glamorous then look no further than the dazzling, pearl covered Alessia. If anyone knows how to make a dress look effortlessly chic and yet still twinkly enough that you could light up any ball room - it’s Mariana Hardwick. The Alessia dress has a stunning pleated curve neckline that runs straight into an off the shoulder drop sleeve. If that sleeve isn’t quite enough for you, however, she’s also given you another option. To sit beautifully under the drop sleeve, add the detachable long sleeve with stunning button detail around the wrist. Walk down The Aisle with one look and switch to another for your after dinner party. The dress is fitted to hug around the hips and then falls gracefully into a column drop. You could, with one of our recommended seamstresses, make this dress into a more fit and flare shape but the beauty of the slightly more flowing skirt just adds to the overall elegance of this gown.
Covered from head to toe in pearl and bead detail, the colour of this dress is really one of a kind. Although the undertone is a silky ivory, the pearl detail makes this dress have quite a silvery sheen to it. It’s the perfect mix between Christmas bride and Great Gatsby wife.
Next up is Trish Peng, Scarlett.
Now whether you’re looking at a second dress option, or you’re just going for a look that’s more suitable to your fun and out there personality, mini dresses are back with a bang! It’s hard not to pick out the Trish Peng Scarlett as one of our top winter party dresses.
She may be small, but boy is she mighty! And if you wanted to add a bit of festive sparkle to your day then there are few else that could do it as well as Scarlett can. Covered in a mixture of white and silver very delicate beads, the detail of this dress is flawless and just catches the light in all the right places. Wait for the best part though - white ostrich feathers hang all around the hem of the dress giving extra texture to this already full glitz and glam number.
You’re going to look like the perfect festive little tree topper bride in Scarlett, but equally, if this isn’t the right vibe for you, she also holds her own exceptionally well for a Vegas wedding!
Next in line is Made With Love, Vivienne.
Elegant, effortless, eternal. This dress is a real stand alone. In fact I can safely say we haven’t really seen anything like this dress anywhere else. If you want demure simplicity then Vivienne is most likely the dress for you. Particularly for any bride who wants something soft, understated and gives “less is more” energy. Castle on the hill or traditional church ceremony, this dress covers both. A high class boat-neck combined with a sophisticated full long sleeve and a fit and flare shape, in that beautiful soft Made With Love french crepe, that we’ve all come to know and love, gives shape and structure.
Wait for the best bit though… the back! Oh the back! A stunning rounded train, button detail and a completely rounded open back to flash your element of modern bride. The rounded shape of the open back is covered delicately and intricately with beautiful white pearls. It has to be seen to be believed, but if this sounds like your style, there is little that can beat it for pure perfection! We are seriously saluting Made With Love for this one.
Last but most definitely not least is our sensational Alena Leena, Rubinette.
Talking of gowns that are completely individual, this is another fine example. Alena Leena is famous for her romantic, textured and whimsical style. You will dazzle your guests in this one of a kind beauty. Soft tulle covers over the bust and the boned bodice giving an almost boho bridal look, whilst the rest of the dress is full lace and beaded with the most stunning detail. A long sleeve and high neck with ruffled tulle edging and a completely diamond-shaped open back are screaming “old money.” Combine this with our classic Blue Meadow Beba veil and you’re about to look more sensational than when Rose walked down the staircase to meet Jack on the Titanic. The groom’s jaw is about to hit the floor!
